BRINGING VOLUNTEERING TO LIFE
Hello
The Volunteer Centre, Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire, is a local volunteering development agency working independently to support organisations from the voluntary, community and public sectors. In our core work we promote, support and develop volunteering and aim to make a positive impact on the quality of the volunteering experience for individual volunteers and the organisations that work with them.

HOW YOU CAN HELP REFUGEES ARRIVING IN CHESTERFIELD…
Ukranian families are now arriving in Chesterfield and NE Derbyshire.
This means there is an urgent need for:
- Voluntary opportunities suitable for those without English as a first language
- Ukranian speakers or translators
At the moment there are sufficient supplies of physical goods and accomodation (though this may change), but the new arrivals are desperate to be useful members of society from the start. Therefore the need for voluntary roles.
If you can help with this situation in any way, please don’t delay in contacting us at The Volunteer Centre:

Facebook: There is now a dedicated Facebook page for people offering support to Ukranian refugees:

The Disasters Emergency Committee are still appealing for funds, which can be given here:
We will update this panel with new information when we have it, and also use our social media channels to pass on news.
Stories worth telling…
‘THROUGH THEIR EYES’ is the new book from David Radford, in support of The Volunteer Centre. It’s a read to remember and makes an ideal Christmas present.
In vivid detail, and genuinely moving accounts, this unique publication draws the reader into a hugely significant period of history; capturing surprising and emotional stories first hand, before they disappear forever.
These are more than just memories, they are the events that marked the world and an entire generation.
