VC COVID volunteer awarded the Empire Medal.

We are proud and overjoyed to be able to announce that our volunteer, Elizabeth Marsden, has been awarded The British Empire Medal in the Queen’s birthday honours.

Elizabeth played a vital part in the delivery of food to people who were shielded and isolating during the pandemic.  She was our very own Captain Oates – only Liz kept coming back and then going off again with another shopping list.  Out of nearly 5,000 shops, Liz completed over 500, an absolutely mammoth task for one person and we couldn’t be more grateful. So far this year, Liz has been presented with the following:

– The Derbyshire Beacon Of Hope Award
– Outstanding Contribution – Voluntary Sector Awards
– British Empire Medal

What next? Well we would imagine that Dame Elizabeth sounds pretty damn good.

While we are immensely proud that one of our volunteers and Board members has picked up such a prestigious award, we think we don’t look too shabby either!
