A new chapter for the Volunteer Centre

The Volunteer Centre connects people who want to make a difference with charities and community organisations across Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire.

Whether you would like to volunteer, involve volunteers in your organisation or simply find out more about the local voluntary sector, we’re here to help.

The Volunteer Centre has supported volunteering across Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire since 1996.

We are proud to build on the contribution of our former Chief Executive, Dave Radford MBE, whose many years of leadership and commitment helped shape the Volunteer Centre we know today.

Now, we’re beginning an exciting new chapter.

Volunteering is changing—and we are changing with it. We’re listening to volunteers and local organisations, refreshing how we work, strengthening partnerships and finding new ways to make volunteering more visible, welcoming and accessible.

At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: volunteering should be good for the person giving their time, good for the organisation involving them and good for our community.

I want to volunteer

Volunteering can help you meet people, build confidence, learn new skills, use the experience you already have or support a cause that matters to you.

You might have several days to give or only an occasional hour. You may know exactly what you want to do—or have no idea where to begin. Either is absolutely fine.

We can help you:

• Think about the type of role that could suit your interests, skills and availability
• Find opportunities to gain experience or try something new
• Make contact with local charities and community organisations

I need volunteers

Volunteers bring energy, knowledge, lived experience and fresh ideas to local organisations. Finding and involving the right people, however, takes thought and preparation.

We support charities, voluntary organisations and community groups to develop and promote meaningful volunteer opportunities.
